fast after binging

Postby maryyang on Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:42 am

I ate a lot last evening, mostly muffins and cookies, at 4:00 to 6:00 pm. This boosts my daily calories intake to 2400kcal, a lot over my usual 1500kcal level. So I decided to do a 6-6 24 hours fasting. I am curious if fasting can compensate the damage of intense calories intake from binging? Will 2500kcal one day and 500kcal the following day make me fatter or thinner if it happens maybe twice a month? Thanks Brad.

3/3 13:30 began fasting, this time without stuffing myself beforehand.
afternoon drank water when I felt hungry and it worked. I expected that hunger would come out often, which did not happen.
20:30 Bed time.

3/4 6:30 Got up. Drank 2 cups of water. When I felt hungry 1 hour later, I drank 1 cups of water and it disappeared.
morning Busy working. and soon I found it was already 11:00. Drank water when I felt hungry.
13:30 Finish 24:00 fasting. Though I don't feel the urge to eat, I have some fruit(about 200kcal)
15:30 Do not feel hungry, but since I'll have a long meeting, I eat a piece of baked sweet potato(about 200kcal)

Plan to have egg cheese omelette for dinner.

Now I have more confidence in ESE. Since hunger do not bother much, I'll try to fast once a week. And see how much fat I can lose in 1 month.

once i know the 24 hours is almost up

i start preparing to eat. i know it's just a mental thing and there are days i could go longer, but i just don't.

it sounds like you were able to go more than 24 hours. is that correct? you didn't eat until 3:30 instead of 1:30?

To oldgrrl:
I ate some fruit at 13:00.

but at that night when I get home, I ate more than I had planned. I ate another piece of sweet potato, half cup of sweet black beans and a guava fruit, 200kcal above target calories.

I guess the urge to eat more that night came from carb-only post-fasting nutrition. next time I'll try to include some soybean milk with fruit.

yup, it sounds like you didn't have much protein

so the soy milk might help. honestly, what you ate doesn't seem like that many calories, tho.

i try to have either a ready made protein shake (like EAS) or mix a scoop of protein powder with 4 oz each of h2o and soy milk when i break a fast. that helps take the edge off and gives me time to think about eating without going on a binge.

of course, it doesn't always work out the way i planned it. :D
