Tips on getting through the fast days?

Postby LittleFish on Thu May 15, 2008 3:55 pm

Hi-

I just started ESE this week, hoping that it will help me break through a pretty vicious plateau. I attempted my first fast on Tuesday and bailed at about hour 17 because I started feeling really terrible--lightheaded, couldn't focus, nauseated, irritable, everything. I didn't binge or anything, I just slowly ate a (homemade) protein bar and then felt better.

So I am trying it again today (Thursday). But it's only hour 13 and I'm already starting to feel extremely hungry and I can feel an imminent headache coming on. I'm trying to drink a lot of water and tea and I took some ibuprofen.

I need some ideas on how to make this work. I have 10 hours of work ahead of me and I need to be functional.

Something that helps me is just keeping busy. Fasting does get easier over time. At least it does for me. Maybe for you it would be more beneficial to start slowly & add 1 or 2 hours each time you fast. I wonder if some carbonated water might help, or I enjoy having some apple cider vinegar in my water. Very healthy.
Hope this helps. Take care
