Sugar Cravings

Postby John Barban on Tue Jul 24, 2007 5:58 pm

Brad and I have been doing some research on sugar cravings, and we are pretty confident that this is really a food addiction. From what we are finding in the research sugar cravings mimick the responses drug addicts have.

You could say that people are addicted to sugar, plain and simple. Very similar things are happening in the brain when people 'crave' sugar and when addicts need their drug fix.

Incidentally Brad is just finishing up a book on how to break this cycle of sugar addiction.

sugar addiction

Postby jennyoates on Mon Jul 30, 2007 2:24 pm

Hello!

Does anybody know of some books on sugar addiction? It is usually the one thing that keeps me from reaching my fitness goals. I would love to know how to break the addiction.

Thank you :D

Hi Jenny,

As I was mentioning before Brad is finishing an awesome book that will address this topic. We have been doing research on sugar addiction lately.

I guess one approach some of our readers mentioned was to just get rid of sugar all together and get yourself readjusted to more mild flavors and sugars of fresh whole foods (fruits, veggies, etc) and less refined sugar.

I guess for many people its a bit of a vicious cycle. Self perpetuating spiral. it just takes one high sugar meal/snack to get you craving the next one etc.

I think Brad's book will have the simplest and most effective solution to this dilemma for most people. And it doesn't involve restricting anything. You can still have sweets when you want, and still reach your fitness and lifestyle goals! I've been following the principles in his new book for about 9 months now and it has worked great for me!
