What weight to use for 6 minute circuits

Postby jopitt on Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:21 pm

:?: Was wondering what weight to use for the circuits. Should I be using a weight were I reach failure in the last set? Or is the purpose of the program to go lighter and faster?

Hi Jo,

For dumbbells I use weights around 80-85% of what would make we reach failure in the given number of reps.

So for the dumbbell shoulder press if I can do 70lbs for 10 reps, I'll use 55 or 60lbs during the 6 minute circuits.

I would say the dumbbell sets should definatley be challenging...maybe not quite all the way to failure on each set...but if you find you're close to failure at the end of the circuits that sounds about right.

Definately shouldn't be too easy. For example: if you can do 10 dumbbell bench presses with 25lbs to failure, you should probably be using at least 15lbs for the circuits. Does that make sense?
